Monterrey Metal Recycling Solutions (MMRS) is a metal recycling center located on Frio City Road, near Port San Antonio, in San Antonio’s south side of town. We bought our first truck in 1928 – and have come a long way since then! Our yard today encompasses over 30 acres of efficiently organized metal recyclables, equipment, and crew. In 2016, we celebrated 100 years of recycling in San Antonio.
In 2024, we changed our name from Monterrey Iron & Metal to Monterrey Metal Recycling Solutions to better reflect our expanding services and commitment to sustainability.
We are South Texas’ original recycler and have managed to successfully navigate the ever-changing metal recycling markets while improving upon safety and efficiency.
With a full crew of mechanics, welders, machine operators, truck drivers, and managerial staff, Monterrey can handle more material with less downtime.
We have over 400 roll-off boxes, two heavy reduction balers, 12 cranes, eight roll-off trucks, four big rigs, 45 trailers, an automobile shredder, five shears (one of which is the largest in the state), and three 70-foot high-capacity scales, including a rail car scale. We also have a rail spur to the Union Pacific hub, which allows us to ship domestically and internationally via rail. Our 15,000-square-foot warehouse facility is equipped with a digital scale and forklifts to assist unloading.
Each of our over 80 employees plays an important role in the metal recycling process and we are proud that many of them have been with us for 20 years or more.
